How it’s counted

Medians of my latest pieces, organic only, from each platform's own analytics.

Definitions and sources
Typical
The median of up to my last 20 pieces of a format that are old enough to count, with how many and when. Dive Radio's live numbers are its own published typical. The middle halves (25th to 75th percentile) are in the formats download.
Organic
Paid views stay out: ads run through my channel, posts brands boosted, and posts held out as suspected boosts until I rule on them.
When a piece counts
Essays: their first 28 days. Shorts, Reels and TikToks: views to date, at least 7 days old. Newsletter sends: settled at 30 days.
Never added
Views, plays and impressions are each platform's own count, never added together.
Shorts on YouTube
Since Mar 31, 2025, every start counts as a view.
Opens
Apple Mail loads every email it delivers, which counts as an open, so open rates run high.
Who they are
LinkedIn field and level come from each follower's own title; a title with no level counts as not senior. An employer is named only when 20 or more followers name it, and the twelve shown are named by 40 to 110 each. YouTube's are signed-in viewers of long-form videos; its countries are shares of views.
Not measured yet
Instagram story views; Instagram, TikTok, Threads, X and newsletter audiences' age, gender and country; where my LinkedIn followers are.
Sources
YouTube Studio; Instagram, TikTok and Threads through Zernio; X's own counts; my LinkedIn follower list, exported Oct 19; Beehiiv; Dive Radio's public analytics; the survey's tabulations.
